The Scene
Every couple is encouraged to meet with the baker to determine the style of the cake based on the details of the wedding. The baker can copy styles from magazines and even merge several styles to achieve a certain look. A $25 deposit will secure your date on the calendar. It often is necessary to book several months ahead of time--up to six months if your event is in the peak wedding season (June through August). The bakery offers sample tastings, delivery and on-site cake set up for an additional cost.

The Food
The formal, smooth look of rolled fondant is the specialty of this shop. Cakes come in many flavors-- raspberry swirl, chocolate, marzipan, carrot, almond and lemon poppy seed are popular sellers--and decorations range from the simple to the elaborate. Cakes can be embellished with handmade sugar flowers, fruits, pearls, beads, basket weaves or intricate lace patterns.

Ewww- Cleanliness Issues

After fighting a battle to even get an appointment we showed up to find that the consultant was double booked. The consultation was done at the home of the owner, which happens to be the same place they cook the cakes. The first thing you notice when you walk into the home is the overwhelming smell of cat pee. Yes you read me right, cat pee. We were then left alone in the living room for 20+ minutes while the consultant dealt with the other couple in the kitchen. While the end results of Carrie's cakes are beautiful, I simply can not get past the idea that they are being baked in a home that has obvious cleanliness concerns. I would suggest you keep looking in your search for the perfect cake.

First I had to call 4 times, left 4 different message before someone called be back to make an appt. Second when we showed up the appointment was double booked. The young lady, who didn't even introduce herself, tried to run both meetings at the same time. Very unprofessional and it felt like there was a complete lack of personal attention. I would expect more attention for something as important as the cake. To top it all off I was not impressed with cleanliness of the house. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the overwhelming smell of cat box and dog. This wouldn't be a big issue except that the cakes are made there out the house. I know Carrie comes very highly recommended but in light of my frustration and concerns it was worth it to me to keep looking.

Carrie of Carrie's cakes was amazing to work with and did a fabulous job on my fairly difficult 5-tier wedding cake. I still have guests who comment on how delicious it was. They showed up plenty early before the reception to deliver the cake & when the topper was accidentally left behind, they got it there with time to spare. I was thrilled with how my cake turned out.

Cons:A little pricey (but worth it!)
